“With no Republican support, the House approved an $819 billion stimulus plan that will serve as the cornerstone of President Obama’s efforts to resuscitate the economy, an early victory for the new president but still a disappointment because of the lack of Republican votes,” the Washington Post reports. The measure passed 244 to 188, with 11 Democrats and all 177 Republicans voting against it. Donations are down and demand has increased. Join the North Fulton Democrats Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 7:15 PM and bring some canned goods and other non-perishable items to donate. Our guest for the first half of the meeting will be Rachel Ewald, founder of the Foster Care Support Foundation, Inc., a non-profit, all volunteer organization that gives free clothes, toys and safe infant-care equipment to some of Georgia’s 13,300 foster children.
